Best Practices For Truck Rental And Self-Storage
Carol Mixon-Krendl, President of SkilCheck Services, began her journey into the self-storage industry in 1984. Over that time, and through myriad other industries, including real estate, RV parks, auto repair and call centers, Krendl picked up more than her fair share of stories and tales.
Mixon-Krendl and CJ Stratte, Marketing Director for On The Move, recently dug up some of those stories to share best practices in the truck rental and self-storage business.
Mixon-Krendl’s business relies on trucks to get a new self-storage property rented quickly, and that’s where her partnership with On The Move comes into play.
“It’s the best way to get new people to move in at the cheapest price they can, and offering that free truck is a great incentive to get the customer to the store to rent from us,” Mixon Krendl said.
The use of On The Move trucks to entice customers is not only a great acquisition tool for Mixon-Krendl – it’s a smart marketing device as well. The custom graphics applied to the side of the trucks create a lot of brand recognition for SkilCheck Services.
“I like to have my managers drive around the trucks to the bank and other places, because it’s a free billboard, basically,” Mixon-Krendl said.
One of the reasons On The Move started partnering with self-storage companies was because they saw the potential of their competitive advantage in the marketplace.
“It definitely is a great way to make it easier for your customers,” Stratte said. “When they come to you, they’re looking for convenience, especially nowadays. If you have the truck rental, you have the locks, and you have the storage all in one place, it makes the whole process so much easier for your future tenants.”
